50th Anniversary Celebration
2010 is the fiftieth anniversary of
Emerson Unitarian Universalist Church.
The committee planning the celebration has a great many
events (and some surprises) in store for you throughout
the year. The celebration will begin Valentine's Day
weekend (the date of the groundbreaking) and events will
continue throughout the year, culminating in a
church-wide banquet on the date of the first
service in Westwood Hall, October 16.
The Emerson Players kicked off the Fiftieth
Anniversary Celebration for Emerson UU Church on
February 13, 2010,to celebrate Emerson’s original
groundbreaking on Valentine’s Day, 1960.
Emerson Players presented an evening of one-act
plays including a cast of fifteen actors that took part
in five plays headed by three directors.
There will be concerts, we will begin making
appointments to record your memories of Emerson, we’ll hold a church bazaar early in October
(just in time for Christmas shopping!). Make sure to keep October 16 clear for that banquet!

Visit the Emerson Bookstore You’ll Be Surprised—we add new merchandise all of the time. Look for new bumper stickers, coffee, chocolate, evolve fish, new bracelets: Wage Peace and Not in Our Name, new books and jewelry—you never know what you’ll discover! Contact: Bookstore Committee. |
The Magazine Swap is a new feature within the used book space. Please bring in your gently read issues, and feel free to pick up another. Swapping is FREE! But it relies on you to make it work. And we’re always looking for volunteers. The commitment is small and the help is appreciated. Stop by and let us know you’re interested.

| Like Coffee? Do you like the idea of some of the profits actually reaching the farmers themselves? Well, you’re in luck. The Emerson will be selling Fair Trade Coffee in the Bookstore, just off The Gathering Place (i.e. the foyer of Delaney Hall), on Sundays after the service. Help support the coffee growers and the Young Adult Group (YA) by buying into this program. Starbucks offers one generic Fair Trade Blend; our YA offers several—at slightly better prices. Fair trade means farmers selling to a wholesaler at prices that actually allow them to make a profit. Check it out: $7.00 for 12 oz, whole bean or ground. |
