Bookstore Used and new books of interest to UUs. Open Sundays before and after services. Contact: Eve Myers Building and Grounds Oversees maintenance of the Church building and grounds, including parking areas, gardens, woods, lighting and heating in coordination with the custodian. Contact: Church Office Building Use Works to preserve the beauty, character and integrity of the Emerson buildings and to encourage meaningful use of the facilities. Contact: Mary Ann Rusk Landscape Establishes a long term plan for landscaping of the church and finding the resources necessary to carry the plan out. Contact: Church Office Caring Provides receptions after memorial services. Contact: Mary Ann Rusk Coordinating Council Composed of all committee chairpersons, this council elevates our church life experience by providing and coordinating Emerson programs. Together with the Board, it develops and maintains church-wide policies and procedures. Contact: Beth Hill Communications Committee Informs the internal and external communities about our activities and successes. Includes support for our newsletter, listserve, web site, and press releases to area newspapers. Contact: Sherle Frost Watson Denominational Affairs Insures that the congregation and its officers receive timely information about the affairs of the UUA, both nationally and regionally. Contact: Janet Meininger Finance Makes recommendations to the Board and congregation concerning generation, custody, and management of funds. Actively monitors income and expenses to maintain sound financial condition. Contact: Tony Collins Lay Pastoral Ministry Trained volunteers bring a ministry of presence to church members undergoing life transitions. Contact: Dick Cheney Library Maintains a lending library of UU and other books. Music/Choir Organizes and provides music for Sunday services, as well as special music events. Contact: Bonnie Rosensteel Nominations Responsible for recommending a slate of committee members for election at the Annual Meeting and helps to fill committee vacancies during the year. Contact: Phyllis Burchfiel Partner Church Periodically offers programs or speakers--on occasion from Transylvania. Responsible for maintaining our relationship with St. Nicholas Church. Contact: deForest Ralph Religious Education Oversees and coordinates the religious education program for the children/youth of the church. Contact: Katy Carpman Social Action Council Supports projects of their choice and keeps the congregation informed. The Council endorses the projects and does not act "in the name of" the congregation, unless a congregational vote is taken. Contact: Jane Zachritz Stewardship Responsible for keeping and dispensing information about the Church budget and running the canvass (coordination of member pledges) each year. Contact: Victor Koosh Ushering On Sunday mornings, gives out the orders of service (programs), takes-up and counts the offering, counts attendance, and helps visitors as needed.
