We have two openings at Emerson.
Keyboard Artist
Basics: Emerson is a medium sized church, and the musical obligations generally consist of once a week 2 hour evening choir rehearsals, and one 2 hour service on Sundays.
The Keyboard Artist position in total is expected to be about 10 hours a week: 2 hours in service, 2 hours choir rehearsal, 6 hours personal practice/research time. Starting/base salary is $10K/year, with compensation based on a conglomerate of AGO and UUA fair compensation guidelines. Possessing a degree in the Arts is preferred.
Requirements/Proficiencies: Piano, Organ, Sight reading, Responsible, Team Player, Ability to lead/teach basic music skills, Self sufficient in researching/choosing music for weekly services

Office Administrator for Communications
Hours: Full-time, weekdays
Basic Function: Responsible for a broad variety of church communication functions and general clerical support
Organizational Relationships: Reports to Business Administrator

Office Administrator for Communications
Hours: Full-time, weekdays
Basic Function: Responsible for a broad variety of church communication functions and general clerical support
Organizational Relationships: Reports to Business Administrator
Educational/Experience Level
- High school diploma/Bachelors or equivalent work experience
- Desktop publishing background
- Proficiency in Publisher, Word, and familiarity with MS Office Suite
- Designs, produces, and distributes printed materials including weekly order of service, and announcements, monthly newsletter, brochures, and posters
- Creates weekly Eblast email, gathering submissions, and finding appropriate images for stories
- Manages and posts information around the Emerson campus including announcements for the video display monitors using PowerPoint; posts posters and flyers for displays and bulletin boards
- Creates weekly PowerPoint display of announcements
- Maintains online church calendar
- Answers and routes incoming telephone calls and visitors
- Edits and updates the web site, including creation of special pages for special events (e.g. holiday page, or conference page)
- Monitors and posts to existing social media accounts
- Provides administrative and clerical support for the ministers and Emerson staff including answering phones, filing, ordering supplies, and managing other aspects of the church environment as needed
- Mails correspondence to hundreds of recipients multiple times per year
- Greets visitors and works with volunteers
- Provides support for other projects as assigned
- Attends occasional Sunday committee meetings
- Ability to use a broad range of software on the Microsoft Windows platform including Publisher, Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint
- Ability to use desktop publishing software to produce publications in a variety of formats
- Ability to edit for style, grammar, and punctuation
- Ability to use mail merge for congregational-wide mailings
- Ability to follow guidelines to protect the privacy of the church membership and all other confidential information
- Ability to relate to and work with a wide variety of people
- Ability to organize time effectively and adhere to publication deadlines
- Able to compose correspondence, create spreadsheets for membership data, and manage database
- Create images for magnets, banners, and other promotional materials
- Comfortable using a variety of office equipment, including copiers, folding machines, scanners, and telephone systems
- Experience with CMS (program similar to Wordpress), and HTML
- Experience with Fireworks or similar design software (Photoshop/InDesign)
- Experience with social media, including but not limited to, Facebook, Twitter, Google +, Yelp
- Ability to design and publish materials under tight deadlines
- Ability to work in the midst of interruptions (i.e. phone calls, or supply deliveries)
- Experience with Facebook and Google Ads, and monitoring campaigns for effectiveness
- Experience with SEO and Google Analytics
- Experience with YouTube and ability to create YouTube videos
- Experience with Vertical Response, or similar software
- Experience publicizing events on local calendars (Artshound, Houston Press, etc.)
- Desire to be creative
- Ability to design logos, new web pages, use images creatively and effectively
- Ability to learn new technologies and be an early adopter of new technologies, and research best practices
- Previous reception experience helpful
