On the north side, Westwood Hall is distinctive by its curved roof. It is the oldest building on campus, built in 1960, when surrounding residential properties had ample acreage for their horses. The building is named after Horace Westwood, minister of First Unitarian Church and founding minister of Emerson. The architects were from the firm of Caudill, Rowlett and Scott. If the Gathering Place is our living room, Westwood Hall is our dining room. First and third Sundays a $6 lunch is served, giving us more time to discuss the sermon and visit with friends. As it hold almost 150 people for receptions, it is convenient for refreshments and conversation after memorial services, lectures or musical events. The full kitchen makes it popular with outside groups for parties, meetings, etc.
Westwood Hall is also the classroom for the large adult religious education class that meets every Sunday morning at 10 am. With it's stage and sound system and versatile floor arrangements, the Hall is popular with speakers.
