The mission of the Religious Education Program at Emerson is to create an environment that encourages and nurtures self respect, life long learning, spiritual growth, and faith in action.

The Emerson Unitarian Universalist Church community will:
Provide Programming and Experiences that Develop Religious Literacy
  • Identify curricula that are life-stage appropriate.
  • Provide tools for life-long learning.
  • Focus on the origins of our heritage.
  • Help children and adults internalize and articulate UU principles and values.
  • Develop and express moral and ethical values.
Develop Activities that Encourage Spiritual Development
  • Create opportunities to discuss and explore spirituality.
  • Implement intergenerational worship.
  • Recognize and celebrate life-stage transitions.
Live Our UU Faith through Action
  • Seek opportunities to implement UU values.
  • Demonstrate faith in action through participation in social concern programs.
  • Participate in projects that value and protect the environment.
Create Opportunities for Fellowship
  • Develop respect for self and others.
  • Encourage community identity and cohesion.
  • Explore diversity and tolerance through formal and informal mechanisms.
  • Provide a safe environment for religious growth.
