The Emerson Church Choir sings for Sunday morning worship services during the church year: September through May. Rehearsals on Wednesday evenings at 7:30 pm and Sundays, 10:45 to 11:00 am Contact: John Branch, Director of Music.

The Chalice Children’s Choir is our talented children’s choir, which performs during church services several times throughout the year.

Music is a valid, creative, artistic, fun, non-exclusive opportunity for spiritual growth.
Singing is food for the spirit! It just plain feels good. The vibrations and air flow basic to the art of singing are a gentle yet active exercise that will make a kid smile whether they have a great voice or not. Let’s encourage them to be part of Chalice Choir.

Evanne Winograd and Joshua Wright, members of the Emerson Church Choir, direct the Chalice Choir. Rehearsals are Sundays 11:45am–12:15pm in the Schweitzer Room in Delaney Hall. Lots and lots of great fun! Contact: Chalice Choir.

The Emerson Intergenerational Orchestra (EIO) currently performs for four services during the church year. It is made up of school age children and adults—truly intergenerational. We perform a variety of music, most of which is arranged by our Director Bill Atkerson. EIO is always looking for new musicians! If you are new to Emerson, and interested in joining this talented group, be sure to talk to Bill Atkerson. And don’t worry if you are new or rusty—Maestro Bill encourages musicians of all skill levels to give EIO a try! Rehearsals are held most Sundays, September through May, in Westwood Hall from 9:00 to 9:45am. Contact: Bill Atkerson.

The Houston Tuesday Musical Club Meets every other Tuesday morning at Emerson Church. Click here for more information.

Lines And Spaces Regardless of your age or degree of expertise, all music programs are open to all members and friends—no auditions are necessary, just come join us! Not only do we provide music for services, we have a lot of fun in the process.

Attention Seniors: The Recorder Group for Adults The recorder is a small wind instrument with a whistle-like sound—very easy to learn. The recorder was popular in Europe way before Bach’s time. You don’t need to read notes. A loan-instrument will be provided along with simple instructions. We learn together and rehearse on selected Sunday mornings at 9:00am. Join Us! Contact: Herman Naeseth.

Suoni Dolci In Italian “Suoni Dolci” means Sweet Sounds, and this group fulfills its name. Featuring complex vocal music ranging from spirituals to traditional madrigals to vocal jazz, their sweet harmonies brighten the Emerson Sanctuary

Led by our own multi-talented accompanist, Anita Butt, the group (currently comprised of Barbara Crotty, Robin Hanish, Beth Hill, Stephen Lipp, Billye Smith, Kit Taylor, Eric Watson, Sherle Frost Watson, and Josh Wright) prides itself on touching your heart (and sometimes your funny bone) with its music.

Next time you see the term Suoni Dolci, just think sweet sounds—you'll be right! We're looking for new talent all the time, so if you love to sing, want to hone your ensemble skills, and have a lot of fun, here's your opportunity Contact: Anita Butt

Waldo! is Emerson’s rock band. How did such a name came into being? Maybe it was taken from Ralph Waldo Emerson. This makes sense, and is what you would expect from a band comprised of engineers, doctors, and IT specialists. Or, maybe the name was taken from “Where’s Waldo?” In any case, Waldo! is HERE! As always, if you have any interest in joining in the efforts, just let one of the band members know! Rock on!! Contact: Dan Barfield.

Emerson Potluck Musicians  Are you a musician, composer or songwriter tired of playing alone?
