Emerson Unitarian Universalist Church was chartered in 1960 to serve the growing western suburbs of Houston. Proudly recognized as a Welcoming Congregation (GLBT friendly), Emerson Church invites people of all races, ethnicity, ages, gender identities, and sexual orientations to join us.
We are known for our nationally-recognized Religious Education program, and a rich and varied Music Program including our Church Choir, Emerson Intergenerational Orchestra (EIO), and numerous guest concerts and recitals.
Our Social Action Council features a large Houston Home Rehabilitation Team, the creation and ongoing support of Houston’s Alternative Drug Court, and active support of the SEARCH Homeless organization, St. Nicholas Unitarian Church in Transylvania, and numerous other community activities. We also have a Environmental Action Group that is large and very active.
Our congregation has the diversity of spiritual beliefs, cultural backgrounds and sexual orientations that makes Unitarian Universalism such a dynamic faith. We are a warm, welcoming group of men, women and children; couples and singles; wanderers, searchers and leaders. We are companions, each on our journey of spiritual growth, and together we work to live our faith in the world.
